He was cast as Wally Cleaver, the eldest son of June, portrayed by Barbara Billingsley, and Ward, played by Hugh Beaumont, despite his lack of acting experience. Dow featured in the show alongside Jerry Mathers, who played his younger brother, Theodore “Beaver” Cleaver. From 1959 through 1963, “Leave it to Beaver” was a great hit, lasting 234 episodes and ending with Beaver about to graduate from high school and Wally prepared to begin college.
