It seems like Netflix always does a startlingly good job of making the actors in dramatised true crime seem exactly like the people they are supposed to portray, and the same is true with the newest series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.
The ten-part series recreates the life of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer from both his and the views of his victims, family, and neighbours. So, here’s how the cast of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story on Netflix relates to the real-life characters they’re portraying.
In the drama, serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer is portrayed by Evan Peters. After being apprehended in 1991, Dahmer acknowledged killing 17 youths and young men. While Jeffrey Dahmer was 34 when he was assassinated in a prison, Evan Peters is 35.

Jeffrey’s father is Lionel Dahmer, who is portrayed by Richard Jenkins in the Netflix series. The 86-year-old Lionel Dahmer is still alive and resides with Shari Dahmer.
Jeffrey Dahmer’s stepmother and his father Lionel’s wife is Shari Jordan, who is now known as Dahmer. Shari and Lionel have visited Jeffrey in jail and conducted interviews. They admitted to Larry King in 2004 that they had thought Dahmer was mentally ill all along. In Monster on Netflix, Molly Ringwald portrays Shari.
Jeffrey Dahmer’s birth mother is Joyce Dahmer, who is portrayed by Penelope Ann Miller in the Netflix series. In truth, Joyce made suicide attempts throughout her life and battled mental illness. Joyce Dahmer, 64, passed away from breast cancer.
Dahmer was captured after Tracy Edwards managed to elude him and take them back to the murderer’s flat. Edwards is portrayed by Shaun J. Brown in the Netflix series. Tracy Edwards ultimately got up in legal trouble after escaping. According to reports, he was accused of having drugs, causing property damage, stealing, and not making child support payments.
Errol Lindsey, a victim of Jeffrey Dahmer, has a sister named Rita Isbell. Rita notably gave an impassioned victim impact speech when she was challenged by Dahmer in court. In an interview with Insider, Rita referred to Netflix’s decision to produce a new Dahmer series as “money-hungry.” She insisted that she hadn’t given the actor permission to portray her breakdown and that she hadn’t known until she watched the video clip online. In the show, DaShawn Barnes plays Rita.
Neighbor Glenda Cleveland, played by Niecy Nash in Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, is based on two real-life individuals. Glenda Cleveland’s real-life experiences and those of someone else were combined to create the character we see on the show. Glenda Cleveland resided in the building next door; she wasn’t actually Dahmer’s next-door neighbour. Pamela Bass, Jeffrey Dahmer’s next-door neighbour, frequently clashed with the murderer.

One of the few guys to have escaped the confrontation with Jeffrey Dahmer is Ronald Flowers. The serial murderer brought him to Jeffrey Dahmer’s grandmother’s house and claimed in an interview that he thinks he would have perished if it weren’t for her. In 2020, Ronald discussed his involvement with Jeffrey Dahmer: Mind of a Monster.
John Balcerzak was the arresting officer in the Jeffrey Dahmer case. He was one of two officers who had the chance to help a 14-year-old kid who was one of Dahmer’s victims, but instead gave him back to Dahmer, who later killed him.
While they were both in prison, Christopher Scarver killed Jeffrey Dahmer. For the murder of Wisconsin Conservation Corps employee Steven Lohman, Scarver received a life term in prison in 1990.
