Where The Crawdads Sing Movie Release Date, Cast, Plot And Much More!

There are a lot of book-to-movie adaptations coming out in 2022, as there always are, but few have the hype that Where the Crawdads Sing does. People were speculating about the film adaptation of Delia Owens’ debut novel about a little girl who has spent her life entirely secluded from society and finds herself in a heap of difficulty before the project was formally revealed shortly after the adored book’s release in 2018. We’re only a few months away from witnessing one of the most anticipated films of 2022.

Stay tuned if you want to learn when you can see the Where the Crawdads Sing movie, who’s in it, and what else you can expect to see when it hits cinemas this summer.

Where The Crawdads Sing Movie Release Date

According to Deadline, “Where the Crawdads Sing” will be released in theatres on July 22, 2022. The movie was supposed to come out in June, but it was put back a month due to corporate reorganisation. The film will now compete with Jordan Peele’s upcoming horror film “Nope,” as well as the animated film “Under the Boardwalk.”

The film arrives nearly four years after the book was initially published in August of 2018. Without a doubt, the film’s creators are hope that interest in hearing the crawdads’ song continues into this year. They’ll probably still want to see the movie, given how popular the book was.

Olivia Newman, who is most known for writing and directing the 2018 film “First Match,” starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Colman Domingo, will direct “Where the Crawdads Sing.” She’s directed episodes of “FBI,” “Chicago P.D.,” and “Chicago Fire,” among others. Lucy Alibar wrote the screenplay for “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” for which she was nominated for an Academy Award in 2012.

Cast of Where the Crawdads Sing?

Daisy Edgar-Jones, who is best known for appearing in the Hulu limited series “Normal People,” another adaptation of a blockbuster novel, will play Kya in “Where the Crawdads Sing.” She was most recently seen in the Hulu original “Fresh,” which received a lot of hype. She will next be seen with Andrew Garfield in the upcoming FX limited series “Under the Banner of Heaven.” Jojo Regina will portray Kya when she is younger.

A couple of up-and-coming actors will play the male roles. Taylor John Smith, who is best known for playing John Keene in “Sharp Objects,” another limited series adaptation of a blockbuster novel, will play Tate, the gentle man who loves Kya. Luke David Blumm will portray young Tate. Chase Andrews, played by Harris Dickinson, is a local hotshot who abuses Kya cruelly. Dickinson is most recognised for his role in the FX series “Trust” as John Paul Getty III.

Plot Information: Where the Crawdads Sing

Kya is a bright young girl who grew up in a North Carolina swamp. She is later implicated in the assassination of a man who had pursued her.

Chase Andrews is a quarterback who seduces Kya with promises of marriage that never come true. When she ends their connection, he attacks her, and she narrowly escapes. Then, while she’s gone, Chase is found dead, and Kya finds herself in the thick of a murder trial with overwhelming evidence against her.

Is a trailer for Where the Crawdads Sing available?

Yes, the teaser depicts Kya growing up alone in the marshes, forced to care for herself, only to be accused of murder when a man with whom she was associated comes up dead.

Kya is on trial for the crime in the trailer, and her voiceover promises that she will ‘get out of this, one way or another…’

A shorter trailer was published earlier this year. This one features movie clips with Kya saying, “Way out yonder where the crawdads sing, the marsh knows one thing above all else: every species does what it takes to survive.”

The teaser also features a fresh new song written by Taylor Swift for the film.

Will Netflix release Where the Crawdads Sing?

There’s been a lot of buzz about Netflix’s deal with Sony, which gives the streaming service exclusive licencing rights to the studio’s new theatrical films for an 18-month period beginning in January 2022.
