Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s divorce reason is now being revealed nearly a year after their split. In an interview for Vogue’s March 2022 Issue, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum spoke up about the decision that may have “triggered” her divorce from the Yeezy founder.
After nearly seven years of marriage, Kim, 41, filed for divorce from Kanye, 44, in February 2021. North, 8, and Chicago, 4, are the couple’s daughters, and Saint, 6, and Psalm, 2, are their sons. They married in 2014 and have four children together: North, 8, and Chicago, 4, and Saint, 6, and Psalm, 2. Kim confessed in a Vogue interview in March 2022 that she had made some “changes” in her life that may have caused her breakup with the “Runaway” rapper: “For a long time, I focused on making other people happy, but in the last two years, I’ve decided to focus on making myself happy.” “And that makes me feel pretty good,” she added. “And even if that led to my divorce, I believe it’s crucial to be honest with yourself about what makes you truly happy.” I’ve made the decision for myself. I believe it is acceptable to pick you.”
Despite her rocky split from the rapper, the SKIMS founder stated that she never wishes to speak negatively about him for the sake of their children. “You could be wounded or angry at your ex, but I think it always has to be ‘Your dad’s the best’ in front of the kids,” she remarked. “No matter what you’re going through, make sure you’re your co-strongest parent’s supporter.”
The KKW Beauty entrepreneur is focused on putting herself first in the future. “In my forties, it’s all about being Team Me.” I intend to eat healthily. I’m heading to the gym. She stated, “I’m going to have more fun and spend more time with my kids and the people that make me happy.” “I’m going to put down my phone.” If I don’t want to see something on Instagram, I’ll unfollow. Yesterday, Khloé came up with the finest word for it. “‘Post and ghost,’ she said, referring to her younger sister,” she added.
Kim’s remarks regarding her divorce from Kanye come just days after the rapper publicly chastised his ex-wife for her parenting choices. Yeezy creator Kanye West slammed the reality star on Instagram for allowing their eldest daughter, North, to post on TikTok “against” his “will.” His remarks came after an earlier Instagram post in which he claimed Kim and her family tried to prevent him from attending his youngest daughter Chicago’s 4th birthday celebration in January 2021.
In reaction to Kanye’s assertions, Kim made a rare public statement, criticizing the rapper for his “obsession” with trying to “control and manipulate” the narrative surrounding their breakup.
Kim stated at the time, “Kanye’s relentless need to attack me in public and on social media is actually more damaging than any TikTok North could create.” “As the primary provider and caretaker for our children, I am doing everything I can to safeguard our daughter while also enabling her to express her creativity in whatever media she chooses with adult supervision – because it brings her joy.” “Divorce is painful enough on our children,” she said, “and Kanye’s preoccupation with trying to control and manipulate our situation in such a terrible and public way is only adding to our sorrow.”
In her statement, Kim went on to say that all she wanted during her and Kanye’s divorce was for their four children to have a “healthy and supportive co-parenting relationship.” “It saddens me that Kanye continues to make it impossible at every turn,” she said, adding, “I prefer to handle all things concerning our children discreetly and maybe he can react to the third attorney he has had in the last year to address any issues amicably.”
Kanye, on the other hand, doesn’t appear to be planning on burying the hatchet anytime soon. The rapper responded to Kim’s statement by accusing her of attempting to “kidnap” their daughter by refusing to provide him the address of her birthday party. Kanye went on to demand a public apology from the reality star and her family a few days later. “I still demand a public apology from the entire family for this,” Ye stated in an Instagram post that has since been deleted. “You [give] everything you have to someone, and then they bully you and refuse to apologise.” It’s up to them till they all accept responsibility. He went on to say, “Every lady there, including [Corey Gamble],” referring to Kris Jenner’s boyfriend. Kim, on the other hand, has yet to respond to this latest remark.
