The cast of Woke Season 2
Black cartoonist Keef Knight has found mainstream success after creating Toast & Butter. A run-in with a vengeful cop forced him to reassess his usual aversion to contentious subjects.
The cartoonist was disturbed by the experience and realised that he could interact with inanimate objects and was more aware of racism and microaggressions.
It’s a challenge for Keef, a “woke” Black man, to manage both his relationships and a promising career. In addition to the main character and cartoonist, Keef, Lamorne Morris portrays Gunther, a roommate and friend; Rose McIver portrays Keef’s girlfriend Adrienne; and Saturday Night Live’s Sasheer Zamata portrays a reporter who called out the cartoonist.
Both Aimee Garcia and Miguel Pinzon join the Woke Season 2 cast as a Silicon Valley venture capitalist and Tommy, a blunt artist who made Keef re-evaluate his activism position. J.B. Smoove, Nicole Byer and Eddie Griffin, Cree Summer as Paper Bag, Tony Hale as Butter, Sam Richardson as Toast, Jack McBrayer as Sad Face, Cedric the Entertainer as Trash Can, and Keith David as Bible are some of the familiar names that voice the intimate objects.
Plot of Woke Season 2
He is a cartoonist who tries to convey a sense of levity by drawing cartoons. When Keef is assaulted by a group of cops, the assault is rooted in racism because Keef is black. Because of the trauma of the incident, Keef began to hear non-living entities as if they were human beings.
The ‘artivist’ side of Keef, who has 15,000 social media followers and expresses his thoughts on social issues, is explored in the second season. As a black activist, Keef is expected to speak out on a wide range of social issues. Even though the story is told in a lighthearted manner, the message it conveys is profound and worth reflecting on.
