Zack Estrin, a renowned writer, and producer who contributed to Prison Break and Netflix’s Lost In Space, has died at the age of 51. Although the details of his passing have not yet been made public, his representatives at the talent agency WME have announced that he passed away on Friday, September 23rd.
According to Variety, Estrin’s family claimed in a statement that “Zack Estrin was our everything.” “The best son, friend, parent, and spouse. He cherished seeing everyone smile. Zack Estrin enjoyed making people laugh. He cherished his role as a writer and producer and taking part in the development of popular shows. But his love for his family and friends came first. We appreciate your participation in both our lives and his.
Estrin was reared in New York despite being born in California. After returning to the West, he enrolled at the University of Southern California and began working as a producer on movies like Stranger Than Fiction. Later, he worked in television, contributing his skills to some of the most well-known shows of the time, including Charmed and Dawson’s Creek.
He wouldn’t receive the praise he merited, though, until 2005, when Prison Break debuted on Fox. The Whispers, The River, and Once Upon A Time In Wonderland were three fantasy dramas on which Estrin later worked for ABC. His most well-known recent work was the 2018–2021 run of Lost In Space on Netflix.

According to Matt Thurnell, vice president of Netflix series, “Zack was a beloved writer, producer, and collaborator, whose work taught us to seek adventure and trust in family. We will miss his enthusiasm and vision a lot.
